Blog at 95: Blogger's Pride, Non Blogger's Envy....
In the recent past, many celebrities including Indian celebrities namely Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and off late even Salman Khan [& many others] have started blogging
They have made great use of this potential tool , not only to get more media attention [as if they need much more of it ] but also to build their credibility online and earn great money.Not to forget, it helps them become more popular in countries where Bollywood has not penetrated to the fullest !!!
Just happened to check out Aamir Khan's blog and was aghast to see the number of comments [close to 8K per article], as if Aamir Khan cares so much of his audience But there was one news today in Silicon India, which made me write this article.The article is on Mr. Randall Butisingh who has started blogging at the age of 95[It is not a typo ] and is one of the world's oldest blogger.A small excerpt from the article:
Note:
[ I and He refers to Mr. Butisingh ]
You can find the complete article[a must read] here and Mr. Butisingh's blog here [Nice to see a Page Rank of 6 for this blog] .IMHO, he is the real hero of the Blogosphere , who definitely deserves a standing ovation !!!! This is definitely a proud moment for the entire blogging community and also a message to the Non-bloggers to start blogging .... Long live Mr. Butisingh !!!!

"I am a learner. I believe that when one stops learning he ceases to live and that it is never too late to learn," Butisingh said.
At the age of 80, he learnt Arabic so he could read the Quran. At 95, he began studying Spanish and he is doing it "poco a poco" (little by little). Butisingh has an agile mind and an eager interest in life and at present he is studying the Hindu religion and philosophy.
He responds to every comment or response to his popular blog.
Explaining his daily routine, Butisingh said: "At my age, I do not work strictly as per routine. I cannot read for very long although I have good eyesight. You may find me in the day resting for hours and at nights up until two or three reading or typing up my blog.
"We live in deeds, not years. Living long has meaning if one can redeem oneself with the time given. It is never too late to learn - youth is an attitude, not number of years. The soul never grows old."

Hi
It is true that the celebrities do not need Fame in India but they are "CELEBRITIES" they can do any thing to spread their name where it has not reached till date.
But it has come as a good omen to the bloggers as the people who did not know what a blog was till today at least know that there exists something like a blog after reading about Mr. Bachchan's blog.
And yes BLOGGING at 95.....
Oh it sounds great. Mr. Butisingh is truly an inspiration for many of us young generation people.
Just a thought: How many of us will stay active at 95?
thanks Mr. Butisingh and thanks Himanshu for inspiring us.
"Youth is an attitude, not number of years. The soul never grows old!"
Absolute hammering of the nail on the coffin!
Reaching out is the idea behind any blogger... But going into media frenzy and having news channels report their blog posts is outright bulls&*t!!!
I just checked out Mr. Butisingh's blog and its a true inspiration every step of the way! Nice link up!!!
Chao...

Hey,
@Janukin:
Nice to see your comment.Unfortunately, many times, KIDS or even ELDER PEOPLE learn from the wrong source of medium.Though,I agree to your point that Mr. Bacchhan might be responsible for spreading the word of blogging(due to his celebrity status),yet he would not be considered the right source of medium.
And at the end of the day, would these celebrities be writing the blog themselves, I don't think so :)
About Mr. ButiSingh is really a TRUE HERO :)
How many of us will stay active at 95?
>>With the things changing so rapidly, think even 59 sometimes looks impossible, but being optimistic is the key...so,let's target 95 and we would at least reach 59 :)
Thanks again for the comment!!!

Hey,
@Ashwin(or TheCruisemaniac):
Nice to see your comment on your blog(after a long long time :)).Nowadays media has become so easily accessible that many times,before doing anything we think, whether doing thing "A" would make us famous :) and Mr. Butisingh is the person who proves the point that "Everything what the media shows(or we all SEE) is not always correct".
-Himanshu Sheth
Himanshu, thanks to you for bringing such information into notice and encouraging people to adopt blogging and share their knowledge/experience with this wonderful gift from WWW.
In my opinion; take any film starts - the so called celebrities; infact they are better business man than anybody else. So no doubt they always look for any bit of possibilities to promote and market themselves. Never mind if it only adds 2 cents to their status. Also, at times it is nothing more than another way to gather the web crowd and demonstrates their presence, which is again a way of publicity for them.
Whereas, in case of ‘Mr. ButiSingh’ what really impressing and inspiring is that the passion and commitment he has shown towards exchanging the thoughts process and share his part of experience with the world that nobody yet seen … on this ocean of web. People like him, are not here for publicity but to spend some quality time. It’s truly admirable that he thought of using this medium breaking any barrier of age and other such constrains.
Hey,
@Alok:
It is a wonderful comment from your side.Even in my case,I started blogging very late and only in the year 2006,I realized it's potential.
As you have told,celebrities would look for every inch of publicity so,I would prefer not to give them more publicity here :)
Mr.Butisingh is truly an inspiration and who would have such enthusiasm from a person aged 95.Truly, a real life hero;who definitely needs a salute and standing ovation.
He teaches us one thing:
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE :)

Nice article....Thanks for sharing such information.
1. Yes celebrities and corporate, all got this new tool to become popular. Social Media. It includes, blog, orkut, twitter…. everything.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_media
For celebrities, many people follow their day to day activities on twitter. Recently, I found on orkut, that a RJ is very active, even in replying all the comments. Social Media really helps, to become popular.
2. Yes hats off to Mr. Butisingh.
Regards and Keep Smiling :)

@Siva: Truly, Mr. Butisingh is an inspiration.Welcome back to my blog and nice to see your comment.
-Himanshu Sheth
but some people are using blogs for bad thing like porn or something.
Hey,
@Mangesh:Definitely,lot of people use it for wrong reasons as well and as you have rightly pointed out Porn is one of them.But when there is a dark side, the other side is always brighter.
Just by taking an example(which may desctruct the entire community), we cannot say "The whole community is like that"....We can do one thing for them: IGNORE THEM :)
