The after "GURU" Effect

Yesterday(13/01/2007) , me and my good friend Alok had been to Mani Ratnam directed movie "Guru". The movie is related to one of the early stage entrepreneurs and very successful industrialist late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani(of Reliance Industries) .
In the movie, there were many key learnings(from a business point of view) , some of which are given below:

  1. If a person has the will power , fire in his belly and capability, he can succed and will succeed in any way.For eg. Abhishek Bachchan(who played the lead role) was not a literate and it was only due to his will power and his risk taking abilities that he was able to create a big business empire.
  2. Always take feedback from your colleagues. This would help you improve in your day to day life.
  3. Always retain and reward the good performers and trusted employees in the company.
  4. Make a proper study of your business plan and also your competitors in the market(who are into a similar business)
  5. Build good relationships and always keep your customers happy.Business is nothing ,but relation building.
  6. Always know the value of time.Do not leave anything for tomorrow.Think as if there is no tomorrow , since 'A stitch in time saves nine'.
  7. Very important to have a good supportive life partner[if at all you are married :-)].For eg. Abhishek Bachchan had Aishwarya Rai (as his wife) , who gave full support to him(even in the time of crisis).
  8. Last but not the least,"Do not under-estimate your capabilities".There would be lots of people(so called BOZOS in Guy Kawasaki's style) , who would try to pull you down , but you need to keep on moving and moving.....Remember, Success is a journey, not a destination.

You made some good points out of the movie. Its great to watch such movie(s) and then trying to find stuffs that make sense to every one of us. The movie is based on a real story so it has more meaning then the usual time pass category of movie.

And you made it right by putting it in success business point of view.

Keep Blogging !!

Well, I have not seen "Guru" yet...but I like Maniratam's direction. So, I can guess, there must be good theme as well good pictuarisation, good to read your all points….but I must say now, that try to implement your ideas in real life now…or start to make planning about it…..as theory knowledge is fine….but “Experience is only best teacher…”, so, start to learn now from practical experience rather then reading or thinking about theoretical points only!!!!...

Hi Hiral,
Yes your are right.Theory is different and experience is different.Only when we fall,we can learn to rise.
But changes dont come in a moment, small changes in life accumulates as big changes which in turn changes our life.
But,yes I would definitely implement this in real life very soon.

Hi Sheetal,
Thanks for your time.I agree to your comment and also as Robin Sharma has told "Better to take on life with small changes" and that is what would accumulate as a big change!!!

Keep looking up at my blog for such more information.

Life is not just about change(s), yes there are situations that we should ready for a change. So life is more to face the challenges and face the situation(s) that perhaps the starting point of a change. There are facts about how we learn and how our experience counts and finally how we implemented it.

And “Guru Bhai” has already sent the message in the movie that “Never Stop dreaming” and work towards it rather thinking of the out come, will surely land up there. You will find different ways with people around you.

Thanks,
Alok

HI Alok,
Yes definitely dreams are very much important. And as you have said "Life is about challenges and there is no way we can run away from it,so we have to face it and fight with it bravely"

Yes "Guru" did give the message which you have specified.
