What is DooJo?

Recently, while Googling on the internet,I came across one more search engine called "Doojo".From the first look , it seems it is a Google venture.

Now the question is "Why would Google use its brand name to create another search engine?".
But it is just an ordinary web page using Google custom search engine.

Also, there is an interactive search engine ChaCha (which I came across while listening to CNBC Podcast on CEO Call and it is a genuine venture) which is in the Beta stage(but seems it would give a stiff competition to Google)

The worry is with so many search engines in the block(both Indian and Non-Indian) , it is difficult to identify which is genuine and which is not!!!

regarding the Doojo, its a custom search engine, google provides this functionality under their "Google Co-Op" project.

Get more details at,
http://www.google.com/coop/

And ChaCha is great! they pay money to the people who help us to get the details.. But I think it can not beat Google! Google is making something which is scalable to such an extent, whole world can use at the same time, ChaCha can not do that!

Hi Jigar,
Yes I do agree to your first point.Doojo is indeed made using Google customzied search, just like we find the customized search in blogs and people get paid for the searches.

And regarding ChaCha,it is very early to comment on ChaCha since,Google is an established player in the field of seach engines.Time will tell the fortune of ChaCha

Yeah, thats a nice information though sometime i feel do we really need to question google's capability ?

And start comparing it with all new commers into the field, is wise enough ?

Hi Alok,
Definitely was are not comparing the strategies of different companies.

It is just that each company is trying to be unique in some sense or the other from Google so that at least it would get some existing set of people to use that search engine instead of using Google.

Its too early to comment on ChaCha but it has good features and that would make it different from other existing players in the Search Engine Market.

For eg.take the case of Guruji.com which provided the "City wise search" which is unique from Google and I use that facility all the time. This is not only limited to Search Engines but it applies in fields of Social Networking(like Yaari,Orkut,MingleBix and many other players),Business Networking(LinkedIn,SiliconIndia)

It would be unfair to tell ChaCha as crap at this stage and also it cannot be compared to Google or other established players in the market.
